Health & Humanitarian Activities

• Since its inception, Indian Culture Society, NJ (I.C.S. of N.J., Union) organizes and supports various medical, dental, eye screening camps to the community without any fees in the tri state area. It also organizes the lectures and seminars on the causes of the blindness and diabetic patients as well as cancer patients.
• All of the medical  services (Dentistry, Specialist Consultation -Ear, Nose, Throat, Skin, Cancer, Gynecologists, Laboratory tests, Sonography, X-ray, Physiotherapy, Cardiogram, Camp Organized, Eye operation, O.P.D. for Eye disease, and Free Glass (Spects) to needy)  were provided free of cost or on token fees, during the Free Medical, and Free Dental camps.
• Once a year, for the total benefit to the community, Indian Culture Society, NJ has started to provide the Free Flu Shots vaccines during the organized camps.
• The medical camps are running in loss every year and the loss is recovered through donation received. Free medical counseling blood pressure checkup, prostate screening, allergy-asthma counseling and breast exams are done at free of charge at the camps organized and supported by I.C.S.
• Over and above the camps were organized in the vicinity area and the patients were examined and provide free consultations, medicines, free eye glasses. Under the circumstances of draught and heavy rainfall, famine, free grass for cattle, clothes, food packets and food grains were provided to needy free of cost.

ICS of NJ is doing the Following Activities for the Indian community:

• ICS of NJ started in 1988 with its base in Union, New Jersey.
• ICS of NJ has been celebrating India’s Independence Day in Union, NJ where Indian and American flags could be seen flaying magnificently, side by side over the Town Hall as well as at Morris Avenue business district.
• Arranged Indian Flag Hoisting ceremony at Union Township Hall since last twelve years.
• Arranged Summer Picnic for the members of ICS family and their friends since 1990 to date with live music party. Every year more than 1500 participants attends summer picnic.
•  Arranged Diwali Dinner for the ICS members ten times so far with live Indian music group.
• Arranged live dance shows performed by local children from our community.
• Arranged fund raising dinner for earth quake and flood disasters victims.
• Every year we arranged and supported other organization medical, Eye and Dental camp for member of community.
• Every year we are arranging Gala Christmas Party for ICS family and friends.
• Since 1988 we are arranging Navratri Garba celebration every year. In our event every day 3000 to 4000 participants attend the celebration.
• We also invited Bollywood movie stars like Ravina Tonden, Urmila Matundkar and and Jonnie Liver. Since last two years TV Serial stars from hit serial like Kusum, Kutumb, Kahani Teri Meri, Lipstick, Astitva ek prem kahani, Kittie Party Naam Gum Jayega attended Navratri Garba program every day.
• In the past events of ICS of NJ Hon. Jon Corzine, Hon. Governor Christine Whitman, Governor McGreevey, Hon. Shashi Tripathi, Hon. Rath, Senators, Congressmen, State Assembly men, Mayors of Union, Elizabeth, Newark and Woodbridge, and other officials from local, county and state government joined us and grace our events.
• Last but not the least we arranged six times honoring dinner and dance program to honor our own community organization.
